At around 23:40 Vashti arrives outside the Cathedral Church of St John the Divine in Harlem, close to the northern edge of Central Park, where Midnight Mass has been relocated to. This new location is quite the surprise, the Nosferatu thinks — she knows at least a little about where the different Kindred territories are located, and she's pretty certain that Harlem is Carthian territory. But this would mean that the Lancea Sanctum mass was deliberately relocated to Carthian territory, which his strikes her as very odd — why would the Carthians allow the Lancea to celebrate a mass in their territory, and even if they did, what did they get in return for that, especially on such short notice? The Sanctified obviously were pressed for time, so the price they had to pay was probably very high.
Shane was the first to arrive at the church, and now he sees his friend slowly making her way to the massive double doors as well. To him, she looks very much like a lamb on its way to the slaughter, so he walks up to her and gently greets her: „Hi, Vashti."
„You're actually here," she says, her train of thought interrupted and giving him a surprised look.
„Yeah," he shrugs, „I mean, I did promise after all, so…"
„Well, let's say it wouldn't have surprised me if you weren't here. It's not the place I want to be at least."
„I'd rather be here than at the original place at the moment, so…"
„Why?" Then she remembers. „Oh, right, of course… sorry."
„No biggie."
„Yeah, hope she gets out."
„So do I."
Vashti admires the massive and very impressive church for a few moments, before she asks: „Have you been here before actually?"
„In passing, sure," the Daeva nods. „But inside? Not really, no. Why?"
„Just wondering." As they're standing a bit to the side of the stairs leading up to the main portal, they occasionally see people walking up the stairs and inside the church — and judging from the Predator's Taint each of them gives off, they're all Kindred. Eventually, Vashti mutters: „I just never knew the Carthians had a church here…"
Surprised, Shane turns to her: „Wait, this is Carthian?"
