Watched Because:

1. I am a little sick of the rom coms, so I decided to go for more of an action show. 2. Work has been exhausting and I wanted to see a movie so I could prevent binging and go to sleep at a normal hour 3. It stars Park Seo Joon

My Review:

Midnight Runners is an 2 hour movie filled with action and comedy. The plot is pretty straight forward and the movie relies heavily on the fun bromance between our two lead police officer students. Park Seo Joon and Kang Ha Neul had great on screen chemistry and comedic timing. Both of their characters were a little naive and dopey but with big hearts. Park Seo Joon's character felt a little similar to this Fight My Way character Dongman. Both characters were underdogs who weren't the smartest, but were physically strong with big hearts. And when I say physically strong, I mean Park Seo Joon went shirtless a few times and boy is he in great shape!

I was a little surprised when the movie turned into a heavier story about kidnapping and human trafficking. It turns out that was in the full movie synopsis, but I apparently stopped reading after the words, "staring Park Seo Joon," and just hit play. To balance out the graphic scenes, the movie interspersed some comedic moments which heled to keep everything from getting too dark. Ki Joon and Kee Yeol were continually challenged with moral dilemmas about following the rules or doing what felt right in their gut. Needless to say, they were two heroes you could route for.

Overall, Midnight Runners was an enjoyable watch. The best part of the movie was the bromance between our leads. There is no love story or romance. It's simply a tale about two police cadets who stumble across a kidnapping case and try to solve it on their own. There is lots of friendship, comedy, fight scenes and shirtless Park Seo Joon.

Final Rating: Add it to your list
