I had no idea what the series was going to be like but was pleasently surprised. With incredible cinematography, a refreshing storyline and dynamic core cast this is eight episodes you will not regret giving your time to.
Based on a comic the concept is quirky but each episode comments on the faults of humanity and how one unique boy slowly changes people's perceptions of the broken world. The tone is like that of a childhood story and but it will suddenly take a dark turn. It is not gory but lots of evil deeds are implied. I am sure many believe that it is a sweet story aimed towards children but this is a tale that is darker than you can imagine...
Ordinarily I would find the narration irritating but this is one of the few occasions that it has been used effectively to tie everything together. We are left with answered questions but the hint of what is to come at the end of episode eight definitely prompts the audience to ask for more.
I hope that Netflix decides to continue on the series and we get to explore more of this apocalyptic world. Join the adorable Gus as he explores a dangerous world and warms your heart with every ear twitch.
