"This is not the time to be worrying about monsters. Humans are the scariest."

This is another series which my whimp status delayed my viewing but it was not at all a 'horror' in the classical sense. It is very gruesome as you watch a group of survives battle monsters and the all-powerful internal demons but it is not filled with jump scares etc. This is more of a psychological thriller, which will keep you on your toes for every episode.

Apart from the monsters I loved the exploration of what it means to be human and the hints that the reason people become monsters is due to their own fears and desires.

There are lots of characters but every one of them is well thought out. Every character has an interesting back story and emotional depth which influences the way they interact with others and this creates an interesting group dynamic.

I particularly liked that there are lots of strong female characters who are self-sufficient and not afraid to fight. This isn't a series of damsels in destress! Of course the most interesting character is Cha Hyun-Su (Song Kang) who has he has so many layers to him that we are left with questions at the end. In fact the whole series leaves us begging for more and I really hope Netflix does as rumoured and makes a second series.

If you are in the mood for a gripping apocalyptic series with a difference then this is one for your MUST WATCHLIST.

Synopsis:
After losing the rest of his family members in a tragic accident Cha Hyun-Su (Song Kang) moves into an apartment building but his struggles are far from over. Overnight a mysterious phenomenon causes humans to turn into savage unkillable monsters leaving Cha Hyun-Su and his naighbours to fight for not only survival but also to hold onto their humanity.
