"Why are you alone under the sky? You know I am here. Kang San Hyoek, whenever you are sick and come running, I am here, you know? I am the girl next door who cannot let you suffer alone."
After waiting impatiently for this series to be uploaded and subbed on Viki I was excited to finally watch it and it was worth the wait. This series featured a romance that was deeply interwoven with a conspiracy which is slowly revealed as the drama progresses.
Both characters go through personal growth and slowly overcome their mental health issues together. The exploration of mental health was very cleverly done so that the viewer isn't overwhelmed with it and yet still learns from it. It provides a good medium to highlight important issues regarding the struggles emergency responders go through. -
"You're a person who can only see the goals you set. I am afraid of the obvious result."
"No. I won't go down the obvious road. I've realised that without Jeong Yeong Jae, I have no goal." -
Kang San-Hyeok is a very interesting character. He begins the series as a heartless devil but as his character develops he softens and realises their is more to life than money. However, his emotional evolution isn't a complete turn around, he is still a character who shouldn't be messed with and that makes him more interesting. Having previously watched, Park Hae-Jin, in various films and series this drama just further solidifies that he is a brilliant actor who is capable of capturing powerful emotions. In fact, both of the lead actors should be commended for their ability to portray such emotional depth.
In conclusion, this series is worthy of being added to your MUST WATCHLIST.
